 Fasting is the act of willingly abstaining from some or all food, for a period of time. Fasting gives a spiritual jump start. It helps us to shift our priorities to see what God has for each of us.


Fasting isn’t merely an act of self-deprivation, but a spiritual discipline for seeking more of God’s fullness. Which means we should have a plan for what positive pursuit to undertake in the time it normally takes to eat. We spend a good portion of our day with food in front of us. One significant part of fasting is the time it creates for prayer and meditation on God’s word.

Before diving into a fast, craft a simple plan. Connect it to your purpose for the fast. Each fast should have a spiritual purpose.  Without a purpose and plan, it’s not Christian fasting; it’s just going hungry.

There are many different types of Fasting.

We encourage you to pray and ask the Lord how, when, and what you should fast. Your fasting plan should be decided with a conversation between you and the Lord.  Allow him to direct you.  The following are some examples of fasting. 

Absolute Fasting- Abstaining from all foods; only intake of liquids.

The Daniel Fast- Eat no meat, no sweets and no dairy. 

Partial Fast-  A partial fast is for a specific portion of the day.
